Spring term 2022

World book day.
Year 4 are having a fantastic world book day.  We have a fantastic array of book characters in our class today. The children have also brought in their favourite book from home and shared it with their friends.
Reading river
Today in year 4 we have thought about EVERYTHING we have read since yesterday.  We recorded the results in our reading river. They showed us just how much reading we do every day and how important it is.
In our p.e we have been learning skills that will help us play hockey matches.  Today we have been learning how to hold the hockey stick correctly and how to control the ball when we are dribbling.
We have been busy in the school grounds today. We have planted some saplings to replace the trees that we lost in the recent storms.  We also set up our wormery! The worms in our wormery will produce top quality, fine compost, and also concentrated liquid fertiliser that we can use in our edible playground.
We have been busy today in our edible playground preparing our vegetable bed for spring planting.  We found lots of weeds
We have been developing our sketching skills by making some botanical drawings.  We had to make sure that we observed very carefully and drew exactly what we saw.
Our ‘gardening guru’s’ have been busy over the last few weeks.  Year 4 are become such great gardener's that they wanted to share their skills and knowledge with some of the younger children in school. The guru’s have been working with groups of children from reception weeding their bed and planting their potato crop.
In our art we have been finding out about tints, tones and shades of colours.  We have used what we learned to help us paint our flower sketches. Aren’t they beautiful?
