Year 3 and 4 iPad club

Welcome to the Year 3 and 4 iPad club which runs every Tuesday after school with Miss Scott and Miss Good. We are enjoying using the iPads and learning about new apps and websites we can use.
29th September
This week we enjoyed using the Blu-Bots app. We learnt how to control the robot and give it commands to move around the screen. We even used our directional language and instructions to play ‘snakes and ladders’ with a friend. Zara and Nahaat showed the rest of the iPad club how to find a number generator on the internet so we could use that to ‘roll the dice’ for our online board game.
13th October
In iPad club this week the children loved using an app called ‘ChatterKid’. They photographed themselves, created a mouth that could open, recorded voiceovers and added filters to create new, edited images and videos of their original photographs. This was a lot of fun and the children enjoyed changing their voices aswell as adding funny filters and emojis to their photographs.
3rd November

After the half term break, we resumed iPad club by practising our timestables using TTRockstars. As well as the multiplication facts, the children also practised the corresponding division facts. We were able to compete against each other to see who could answer the timestables questions the fastest! We have usernames and passwords so we can carry on practising at home.
17th November
The children loved using ToonTastic today to create their own stories. Here is Nahaat’s below. The children could create their own characters, text, voiceovers and images.
6th October
We have loved using the ‘maps’ app this week in iPad club. The children enjoyed finding our school, their home addresses, capital cities in the UK and even exploring other countries from around the world. Children used the ‘satellite’ setting on the app look at places in much more detail.
Kai loved spinning the Earth around on its axis and looking at the different countries.
Zara and Mushaira were able to input start and end locations to track their routes from school to home.
Ayyub used the app to find Calcutta in India which is where his mum was born.
Lydia used the 3D setting to zoom in on buildings in Elswick.
Here is Alexis visiting the Queen at Buckingham Palace. She could confidently use the ‘maps’ app to find where the Queen lives. She was so proud of herself
20th October
This week the children enjoyed choosing which apps they would like to use.
Some children competed against their peers using TT Rockstars whilst others designed algorithms on Scratch Junior.
We even had some children who wanted to continue their work from last week using the ChatterKid app.
10th November
As part of ‘Maths Week England’ the children enjoyed competing in the TT Rockstars online competition. As a school we are working hard to collect as many points as we can by completing times tables questions. We are competing against lots of other schools in England!
1st December
During tonight’s iPad club we used the ‘Book Creator’ app to design and create Christmas e-cards. We had lots of fun inserting images, writing seasonal messages and creating festive backgrounds.
