Keeping children safe online

Safer Internet Day 2022.

This will be celebrated on 8th February with the theme ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online’.

From gaming and chat, to streaming and video, young people are shaping the interactive entertainment spaces they are a part of. Safer Internet Day 2022 celebrates young people’s role in creating a safer internet, whether that is whilst gaming and creating content, or interacting with their friends and peers. We have attached a link where lots of good advice and ideas are given to support your child when they are playing games online.

Ollee is a digital friend for children aged 8-11 – created by Parent Zone and funded by BBC Children in Need’s A Million & Me initiative.

It helps them explore feelings around school, family, friends and the world – and share advice with a parent or trusted adult.

Children can tell Ollee how they’re feeling and it will give them ideas about what to do. If they’re not sure, Ollee will help them figure it out.

Together, parents and children can share Ollee’s advice and talk about feelings together through connected accounts.
