Autumn Term

Maths

In Year 4 it is so important to practise our times tables.  We have loved using our new timestable app 'Emile' to challenge ourselves with this.  Keep up the hard work everyone!

English

This term we have written for a variety of different purposes.  Some of us liked writing our own Ancient Greek stories the best, while others enjoyed writing to inform, creating fact files all about Life in Ancient Greek times.

DT: Outdoor Learning

Year 4 have loved making use of the outdoor classroom and forest area this term. The children foraged for their own herbs to flavour their flatbreads and then we cooked them on the fire.

Art

We have enjoyed studying the work of Roy Litchenstein and Piet Mondrian this term.  We took inspiration from their work to produce our own prints and collages.

Science

We have been learning about living things and their habitats.  We especially enjoyed taking part in the science workshop at the Great North Museum, where we classified different living things.

History and Geography

We have spent this term learning about the History and Geography of Greece.  We used atlases to locate Greece and learned about life in Ancient times.

RE

We have been learning about Hinduism.  A highlight for us this term was producing some Diwali inspired Art and displaying it at the local Hindu Temple.
