Little Inventors

Year 4 enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Lit & Phil Library, taking part in a Little Inventors: Myths and Legends workshop. They designed modern mythical creatures and magical objects before creating brilliant prototypes from junk materials. Such creativity and imagination!

Printing

Year 4 have been studying the Pop Art of Roy Lichtenstein! Inspired by our Ancient Greeks topic, we explored patterns using lines and dots before creating our own one-colour prints. The children produced some fantastic designs and developed their printmaking skills.

NUFoundation

Year 4 loved taking part in a HADO session with NUFoundation! HADO is an exciting techno-sport, combining high-energy physical activity with video games. The children loved competing in teams, dodging virtual energy balls and staying active while having lots of fun!

European Day of Languages

Year 4 celebrated European Day of Languages by exploring Greece! We learned Greek words and phrases, and created beautiful artwork inspired by the Parthenon. Using watercolours and art straws, we produced some fantastic pieces while learning about Greek culture and language.

Great North Museum

Year 4 had a fantastic day at the Great North Museum! We explored the galleries, discovering fascinating artefacts while completing a scavenger hunt. Then we took part in an engaging workshop, learning all about Ancient Greek warfare. A day full of history, curiosity and fun!

Flexible Partitioning

In maths, we enjoyed exploring the flexible partitioning of 4-digit numbers! Using interactive place value counters on their iPads, pupils represented numbers in different ways, deepening their understanding of place value and number composition.

Striking and Fielding

We are thoroughly enjoying our cricket sessions in PE this half term.  We worked on striking the ball with accuracy and improving our fielding skills. It was wonderful to see the children building confidence, resilience, and teamwork throughout the session. 

Report Writing

We explored non-fiction books, learning how glossaries help readers understand key vocabulary. We then put Ancient Greek keywords into alphabetical order and matched them to their definitions to create our own glossaries, ready for our Ancient Greek report writing.
