Autumn Term

All about ME!
Our first topic is 'Starting School.' We will work with the children to make sure they are comfortable and happy in their new learning environment.
In Reception, we teach the children to read using a scheme called 'Read, Write Inc.' The children start learning  set 1 sounds in Autumn term  and then begin to blend these sounds together to read simple words. By the end of the year, the children will be able to read and spell simple words and write simple sentences.

In computing we looked at programming our mouse. We started by programming the mouse to go forwards and backwards to collect the cheese. The children enjoyed counting to see how many times the mouse would need to move. We then introduced turning right and left. The children used the coloured arrows to help them explain which way the mouse would be moving.

Fun in the meadow. 

Today we got to explore the meadow for the first time.  We had so much fun running around the grass area, trying out the equipment and singing songs with our friends. We had to share and wait our turn but we had so much and can't wait to go back to the meadow again!

What a fabulous half term we have had in Reception. We have enjoyed exporing our new classroom and the outside area, making new friends and having lots of fun! 

European Languages day 

For European Languages day we learned about Italy. The children enjoyed finding out about Italian food and talking about what they liked! We looked at landmarks, sang songs in Italian (heads, shouders, knees and toes) and learned how to say please in Italian. We practised every snack time " Per Favore"

This half term we having learning about fewer then and more than, as well as making equal numbers. We have also been learning how to subitise to 5.
