Autumn Term

All about ME!
Our first topic is 'Starting School.' We will work with the children to make sure they are comfortable and happy in their new learning environment.
In Reception, we teach the children to read using a scheme called 'Read, Write Inc.' The children start learning  set 1 sounds in Autumn term  and then begin to blend these sounds together to read simple words. By the end of the year, the children will be able to read and spell simple words and write simple sentences.

Reception have made a lovely start to their first term in Reception. We have enjoyed exploring the areas of the classroom, making new friends and exploring the grounds around school. 

PE 

In PE we have been doing Yoga. We have been practising our listening skills, following instructions and our balancing skills. The children have enjoyed retelling stories with yoga actions. They are showing great resilience and patience while learning new skills. 

For Black History Month we looked at the artist Alma Thomas, who lived in the USA. The children enjoyed talking about her artwork and then created their own.
