We are working on checking our own writing by reading our work aloud.

We have wrote instructions for how to help a duck out of the mud, inspired by our core text Duck in the Truck.

Maths

We are using rekenreks, part-whole models and number lines to explore numbers to 100!

We have been building, partitioning and comparing numbers.

We can even count in multiples of 10.

Science

Our big question is: What are our senses?

We will be exploring what we can see, touch, smell, hear and taste. We will discuss the purpose of each of the senses. We will be identifying different parts of our bodies and their functions.

History

Our big question is: Who is George Stephenson?

Year 1 are learning about the life of the famous, local engineer George Stephenson. We have visited the Discovery Museum and learned that George Stephenson and his son Robert Stephenson are famous because their steam engine won the Rainhill Trials in 1829! We will look at how our lives now are different to George's life, and we will put his life onto a timeline.

PE

Our focus is Dance and Fitness. Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday.

Computing

We are working on our laptop skills! The children are learning how to log onto a laptop, open a word document and type sentences using the keyboard.

We also completed an exciting Moonlanding Coding Adventure. We used our robot brains to follow algorithms and learned about careers in aerospace.
