Earth Day 2026

For Earth Day we looked at things we do that are good for the Earth and what is bad for Earth. The children looked at pictures and had to decide if it would make Earth happy or sad. We had some lovely discussions about what we could do to keep making Earth happy.  Some children also enjoyed creating their own planet Earth.

Cultural Celebration Day

Reception enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year so much we thought that for our Cultural Celebration day we would sing "Guny Hay Fat Choy" and learn a Chinese Dragon Dance. The children enjoyed watching the dragon dance and then practised walking/ moving in pairs to some music.  The children had a lovely time and I know the parents enjoyed it to!

Skills Builder day- Operation Moonbase

Today we have been developing our listening, speaking, teamwork and creative skills. We started the day by exploring space and watched a rocket take off. We imagined what it would be like in space and practised walking on the moon. We then had to decide who woud be in our crew by talking about who we would need to help us to live on our own planet called "Eutopia." The children worked in pairs and created their crew. They practised farming for food, designing their own space creatures and making their own puppet aliens. We finished off our Space day by creating our own rockets to get to space. The children really enjoyed taking part in Opertaion Moonbase!

Maths

In maths the children have been exploring number bonds to five. We have sang lots of number songs to help and to remember we had five altogether. The children then used numicon to explore how they could make 5 in different ways.
