Summer Term

MTC Cup

Year 4 enjoyed competing against other schools in the MTC Cup on Emile. They worked hard to improve their times table recall and scores, showing great determination, teamwork and enthusiasm. Well done Year 4!

Paul Klee Abstract Art

Year 4 have been studying the artist Paul Klee. We explored his unique artistic style, including his use of colour, shape and abstract design. Using his work as inspiration, the children created their own abstract artwork based on Roman architecture. They experimented with bold colours and geometric patterns to produce some fantastic and imaginative pieces of art.

PE - Dance

Year 4 have been getting creative in PE, exploring dance inspired by their history topic on the Romans.

Segedunum

Year 4 had an incredible time visiting Segedunum. From discovering what life was like in the fort to exploring the gallery in the museum, the children were fully immersed in history. They showed fantastic curiosity and represented the school brilliantly throughout the day.

Scotswood Garden

Year 4 enjoyed visiting Scotswood Garden.  The theme of the morning was 'Welcome'.  The children explored the garden, made friendship bracelets, played games, made clay sculptures and decorated wood cookies.

No Pens Day

Year 4 spent a day learning without pens or pencils. They completed morning maths using equipment from around the classroom and investigated if sound could travel through materials by making string telephones!

Cruddas Park Library

Year 4 enjoyed a visit to Cruddas Park Library this term. They had the opportunity to choose a book to bring back to school and listened to a story.

Word Processing

Year 4 have been practising their word processing skills by typing up their own “Just So” stories. The children worked hard to improve their typing, editing and formatting skills while creating neat and well-presented pieces of writing.

Just So Stories

Year 4 are planning their own “Just So” stories in the style of Rudyard Kipling to explain how the tortoise got his shell. To inspire their writing, we had a very special visitor - Norman the tortoise!

The Royal Northern Symphonia

Year 4 had a fantastic time at The Glasshouse. We were lucky enough to watch The Royal Northern Symphonia perform ‘Sounds of the Deep’, an ocean inspired adventure packed with music, stories and fun.
