PE at Hawthorn
As part of our School Games Mark, we will be taking part in lots of competitions this year. These will include competitions between the Trust schools and also with schools across the city.
Our Year 5 and Year 6 children recently enjoyed taking part in an athletics competition at Walker Activity Dome.
Our football team have enjoyed playing matches against the other schools in the trust. They have shown excellent team work skills and are improving each week.
Active 30 minutes
Remember, to stay healthy, you should being taking part in at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day! The Playground Crew can help you to achieve this during breaks and lunch times. Why not see what activities they are providing this week?
You can also achieve your active 30 minutes by walking to and from school, or by walking the last part of the journey if you live too far away from school to walk the whole way.
Next term, we will be setting up some 'Personal Challenge' stations on the MUGA. Have a go and see if you can beat your own score!
At Hawthorn, we are really lucky to have NUFC to teach some of our PE lessons. This year we will be working with Steve to improve our football skills. Some classes have also taken part in Match Fit. which helps us to learn about how to keep our bodies healthy.
Our teachers love helping us to learn lots of new skills during PE lessons. We take part in a range of indoor and outdoor activities. We learn the basic skills needed for all sports and are expected to apply these in a range of sports and games.
