Spring Term 2023-2024

This term our topic is Fire, Fire! Our book this half term is Toby and the Great Fire of London. We will be learning about the events of the Great fire of London and the Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead throughout our English, History and PE lessons.
What an exciting start to the half term! We had a visit from author and illustrator Liz Million. She showed us some of the books she has illustrated, then together we created our own illustrations. We had so much fun and Liz was so funny.
Our tip to the Discovery Museum.

We had a lovely time exploring  the museum. We spend some time  looking at the story of Newcastle before heading to the story of the Tyne.  Then we spent some time exploring the science maze. That was fun!

After lunch we went to a workshop with Fran. She was very impressed with the facts we could remember about the Great Fire of London. Fran told us about the Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead.  She got us to pretend we were buildings on fire. It showed us how the fire spread and how blowing up houses helped to stop the spread of the fire.  After this,  we were so excited because we got to look at Victorian artefacts. We had fun dressing up in Victorian costumes.  At the end of the session some of the children took part in a puppet show to retell the story.

We had such a lovely trip!
